The Man I Never Met, But Grew Up Knowing

Our Story2 min read

My grandfather, Ompal Aggarwal, passed away when I was very young. I don't have memories of him — no conversations, no moments I can recall firsthand. And yet, I feel like I know exactly who he was.

That's because my father, Dinesh Kumar Aggarwal, grew up watching him work. He's told me about the way Ompal ji spoke to shopkeepers, how he built this business on his word alone, long before “distribution network” was a term anyone used. My father didn't just inherit a business from him — he inherited a way of doing business, and he passed that down to me the same way.

So when I run ATC today, I'm not running on my own instincts alone. I'm running on what my father saw his father do, retold to me over the years — in the way he negotiates, the way he remembers a retailer's name, the way he never treats a relationship as a transaction.

I never met the man who started this. But every day at ATC, I work with what he left behind.
